Eight of these 12 are within the Mariposa Monarch Bioshphere and 4 of these 8 are open to the public including Sierra Chincua, La Mesa, El Capulin, and El Rosario. When you visit the Mariposa Monarch Biosphere Reserve with your Culiacan rental cars be prepared for the amazing sight of the Monarch butterfly.

The path of the Monarch butterfly
Monarch butterflies are well known for the long annual migration. In North America they make massive southward migrations starting in August until the first frost. A northward migration takes place in the spring. The monarch is the only butterfly that migrates both north and south as the birds do on a regular basis. When you go with your Culiacan rental cars, at times there are so many that they will cover the entire trunks of trees and break small branches. You will also be able to hear the sounds of a million wings as you walk along the path.

Working together
The migration of the monarch butterfly is a spectacular phenomenon that would not be able to persist without the conservation of habitats in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Many government agencies, organizations, and individuals across North America are working on projects to conserve monarch habitats and the migration phenomenon. The Mariposa Monarch Biosphere Reserve also provides economic resources for the local population, namely the mushrooms that flourish during the rainy season and wood used for domestic purposes

A greener planet
Much of the land surrounding the monarch biosphere is communal land. The residents are often poor farmers who in the past relied on the forest for firewood and lumber to make a living. Logging was outlawed in 1986 in the core zone of when the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve was created. However, illegal foresting is still rampant. Organizations have been working to promote sustainable forest practices and reforestation while helping the locals to find alternative methods to supplement their incomes.

Working for a brighter tomorrow
Many organizations are also working to promote and bring awareness to the general public. Social marketing using pins and posters have been incorporated in programs to raise community awareness about the dangers of illegal deforestation. A monarch butterfly costume is also a common sight during the many community activities such as the childrens puppet show, the theater production, the art and essay contests, and school visits. Conservation-based song and even sermons to discuss conservation awareness with the local population have been done. The end results in an informed community who are aware about their impacts on the environment.

Before you go
It is best to go on a sunny, warm day with your Culiacan rental cars as the butterflies stay hanging on the trees when it's cold and cloudy. Although the butterflies are present from November to March they start leaving by the 1st of March and January and February are the best months to see them because it is warmer. Your Culiacan rental cars highly recommends going with a guide. If youre getting the munchies there are booths selling hot, local food which you can eat for a very good price.
